Welcome to Episode #19! Today my guest is Broadway veteran, Arbender Robinson. Arbender is a TRUE triple-threat and his IBDB page will back that up. He made his Broadway debut in Hairspray and other notable productions include: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Hair, Ragtime, The Book of Mormon, Les Miserables, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Shuffle Along. On top of being a brilliant artist, he is one of Landyn's closest friends...so it's an EXTRA special interview.

Plus, as you may know, Season 3 of TRAITORS just ended. Therefore, we had to cover it all in a new installment of "Traitor Talk." There will be SPOILERS...so if you haven't watched the finale, be warned. Landyn also sings the praises of TikTok and does some special "shout outs" to some new friends. ARBENDER ROBINSON BIO...

Arbender Robinson (Actor) Broadway:  In Transit, Shuffle Along (revival), Les Miserables (revival), Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Disney's The Lion King, Book Of Mormon, Hair, Ragtime (revival), Disney's The Little Mermaid, Hairspray. T.V.: The Last O.G., Nurse Jackie, Little Voice, Tony Awards, Good Morning America, The Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning. 

He made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award winning production of Hairspray; where he covered the role of Seaweed. In the original cast of Disney’s The Little Mermaid he covered the role of Prince Eric. He also served as the Dance Captain and Swing for the Broadway revival of Hair and was seen in the Broadway revival of Ragtime. His Broadway credits continue with Disney’s The Lion King, Broadway’s 6th longest running and all time highest grossing show. Since then he was in the original cast of Beautiful The Carole King Musical and the 2014 of Les Miserables as the cover for Marius.

He is also the first African American to ever play Marius on Broadway. Arbender starred in the 2016 hit music Shuffle Along alongside many Broadway Legends including Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Billy Porter, Brandon Victor Dixon and Joshua Henry. The show was Directed by Tony Award Winner George C Wolfe and Choreographed by Savionne Glover.

Prior to moving to NYC, Arbender was a featured Vocalist with Royal Caribbean Cruises as well as an actor and vocalist for numerous Disney productions at Walt Disney World. He spent 4 years as a studio session Vocalist for the Disney Organization and can be heard in various parades and attractions worldwide. Arbender also performed extensively in Regional Theater in the US as well as numerous shows abroad including: Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Five Guys Named Moe, Sweeney Todd, Jesus Christ Superstar, Aida, Ragtime, Secret Garden, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Songs for a New World, Parade, Miss Saigon and Into the Woods.

Episode #17 is ALL about joy, laughter, and the pursuit of merriment! Our guest, Joe DiPietro fits that theme perfectly. Joe is a TONY award-winning playwright and lyricist. His musical Memphis earned him a TONY for Best Book and Best Original Score. This was also the first show that brought Jimmy Roberts and Joe together, a collaboration that has led to several shows by the duo. His newest original musical, Three Summers of Lincoln, began a WORLD PREMIERE just this week at LaJolla Playhouse, directed by Christopher Ashley.

DAISY EAGAN BIO...

Throughout her multi-decade career, Tony award-winner, Daisy Eagan, has dazzled audiences from the stage to television and film, and with her writing. Most recently, Eagan’s podcast, “Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan”, from The Obsessed Network launched its second season with more than 10 million downloads over 52 episodes.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Eagan studied at Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in Manhattan and with Wynn Handman.

Eagan is currently bi-coastal splitting her time between Los Angeles and New York, with her partner and their son, Monty.

Eagan recurred on Freeform’s critically-acclaimed series, “Good Trouble.” Eagan was introduced in season one as night-time AM radio talk show host Joey Riverton. Season two opened up with Joey coming out as non-binary. One of the first non-binary characters on network television. 

Additional television credits include HULU’s “The Path,” HBO’s “Girls,” CBS’ “The Mentalist,” “Without a Trace,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “The Unit” and “Numb3rs.”

Well-known for her stage work, Eagan most recently performed in two shows at The 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as in “Scissorhands” a musicalized version of the classic film.

At age eleven, Eagan became the youngest actress to win a Tony Award for Best Performance by A Featured Actress for playing Mary Lennox in “The Secret Garden.” In 2016, Eagan returned to “The Secret Garden” for the 25th anniversary concert production at Lincoln Center, taking on the role of Martha. Eagan then went on to play Brigid Blake in the 2018 First National Tour of Stephen Karam’s Tony winning play, “The Humans.”

Additional theatre credits include “Les Miserables” and “James Joyce's The Dead” both on Broadway, as well as dozens of off-broadway and regional productions, and writing and starring in three one-woman shows: “Still Daisy After All these Years” “Daisy Eagan: Fuck Off. I Love You.,” and “One For My Baby.” Each show explored deeply funny and sometimes tragic themes, as Eagan intertwined a wide spectrum of songs into her storytelling.

An award-winning writer with a loyal and growing audience, Eagan is a fierce fighter and activist for women's and LGBTQIA+ rights. She is a rousing voice in political arenas and continues to fight for change throughout her literary career. She has penned op-eds for publications including HuffPost and Playbill.com, and had a column for USA Today Network’s The Journal News.

As the writer and host of the weekly podcast “Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan”, Daisy has written nearly three novels-worth of content over the span of more than 60 episodes. Welcome to Episode #14! Producing an episode proved to be VERY difficult this week. Chaos is all around us and for many of us...that chaos is creating unimaginable problems with few solutions. In that spirit, I try to bring some hope, insights, and possible solutions to specifically the gender non-conforming community and our allies. Hope, optimism, and purpose were all things that I loved experiencing for the first time after starting my transformation. When I suddenly felt those things becoming harder to hold on to, I looked for answers. I found some and therefore wish to use this phenomenal platform to share anything and everything that I can. Samantha (Sami) Saltzman is a seasoned theater director who infuses her productions with a unique blend of escapist entertainment and heartfelt storytelling.

She has worked at the Associate and Resident director levels to maintain and transfer landmark Broadway productions to National and International tours. From placing over 40 new actors in the Broadway production and 1st National Tour of Matilda the Musical to playing an integral part in the Mandarin translation process for Phantom of the Opera, Sami is known for her ability to tackle ever-changing and unwieldy creative challenges with tenacity and kindness.

As a director, Sami has fostered the growth of countless new musicals regionally and across NYC. Her directing has ranged from fringe showcase productions to major galas and events featuring A-list celebrity talent. Inspired by her Las Vegas roots, she has a knack for utilizing elements of spectacle to deepen and further the story being told.

Sami’s career has taken her to England, China, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, and across the United States. She is a long-time artistic collaborator with the Drama League and New York Musical Theater Festival and has worked at some of the most prestigious venues around the world including the Shubert Theatre, Brooks Atkinson Theater, Dominion Theatre, Radio City Music Hall, New York City Center, New World Stages, and The Public Theater.
